Happy Mother's Day

We took these pictures right before bedtime, so we didn't get too many smiles from Lena and Maddie.

The pictures are backwards, but my Mother's Day gift is an hour long massage! A whole hour by myself! It is going to be quiet, relaxing, and it will smell great the whole time (no poop!)...not to mention the massage part!
Maddie opened my present for me.
Lena was just watching.

9 months!

Lena has been up on all fours quite a bit lately. Their hair is really growing!
Maddie is still mostly rolling around...quickly!

Our nine month checkup went pretty well. The girls are super healthy and the doctor is happy with their development. Maddie weighs 22lbs., 12ozs. and is 28.75 in. long. Lena is 21lbs., 10ozs. and is 28.75 in. long. Lena lost a little weight when she was sick all last week. For those of you who don't know- or don't remember- the nine month check up is supposed to be an easy visit. AKA...no shots. Unfortunately, we didn't get off that easy. We had one extra dose of the Synagis shot (for premature babies' respiratory systems- hard to believe they were preemies, I know), so they administered it for us at the appointment. It is supposed to be a pretty nasty shot- burns really bad when the medicine enters the body. So, needless to say, the girls don't like it. We were also there about an hour into dinner time, so everyone was hungry. L and M both cried for about the last 15-20 minutes we were there. As soon as I would pick one up, the other would start crying. Story of my life. Anyway, we finally made it out to the car. I got both girls loaded in when my phone started ringing. I grabbed my phone, jumped behind the wheel, and checked my voicemail. I was so ready to get out of there! I threw the truck in reverse and backed over my stroller!! Somehow the stroller made it out of this ordeal and is still in great condition. I did manage to bust the tail light though. A mom that was in the parking lot came over to tell me she had done the same thing twice when her kids were little. Thanks, lady, whoever you are. At least I don't feel totally crazy!! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms that read the blog! Hope you have a great, relaxing, stress free day!!

Poor old cat

Old Allie...
...new and improved Allie.

I adopted Allie the year I graduated from college- 2002. We think she was about a year old at the time, so that makes her about 8 now. Recently, she has stopped grooming herself. Her fur was getting all tangled, and she just seemed miserable. Some people would argue that she has always been a grouchy cat, but not to me! Poor thing hasn't been to the vet in ages (she is an indoor cat) let alone to a groomer. Desperate times called for desperate measures. I took her yesterday. Here she is sporting her summer look. Chris has volunteered to shave her in a couple months in order to save us 40 bucks. We will see if that really happens! She has seemed happier in the last 48 hours than she has in the last 9 months. The pets don't receive near as much love and attention as they used to...wonder why?!?!

We did it!

Almost there! Approaching the finish line.
We finished in 2 hours 16 minutes. Longest workout of our lives.

Tired mom and her fans :)
Relaxing after the race.

My friend Katy and I were talking last fall after our girls (Maddie, Lena, and her daughter Maya were all born the same day) were born about how we had always wanted to run a marathon. Nothing motivated us more than our post baby bodies. So we committed to training through the winter. We started with struggling through two mile runs and finally worked our way up to about 12 two weeks ago. We finished in 2758th and 2759th place. Not too bad considering 7200 people ran today. We had lots of fans there. Katy's husband Chad brought their twin boys, and Chris and his mom came and brought our girls. Congrats to us!
