Three year stats

It just amazes me that these girls were premies...
Maddie- 39 pounds (95%), 39 3/4" (95%)
Lena- 36 1/2 pounds (90%), 39 3/4" (95%)
Lena and dad giving Jolie one of the few bottles she has had.  Lena loves to take care of her baby sister.
 Classic Maddie- all dressed up.

Rockin' out with our birthday gifts from Grandma and Grandpa P.

 Zach's look is priceless!
Our little sailor with our two Navy men.
Grandma's Siamese twin- Maddie is always stuck to her hip.
Grandpa enjoying some happy baby time.

Maddie and Lena's birthday celebration is officially over.  Since we couldn't get everyone together at the same time this year, they were lucky enough to celebrate a few times.  Last weekend G and G Parmentar and Uncle Zach came down.  We cooked out, ate cake, visited, and relaxed.  The girls continue asking if it is their birthday, but how do you explain to a three year old that it doesn't come for another year??

Maddie and Lena turned 3!!  We have been talking about their birthday all summer.  I don't think they realized it was finally their birthday until the presents started rolling in.  As soon as I told them it was their day and they were three, they immediately asked if they could go to school now.  I'm glad they are excited about it, but, dang, they take everything so literally!  (After telling them we had enrolled them in preschool back in the spring, they continuously ask if it is time for school yet.  All summer I told them they would start school after their birthday.)  We had a fun backyard party with a little pool and slip and slide.  We had mostly kids from the neighborhood over plus a couple other friends.  We played outside in the heat for a little over an hour before the storms rolled in.  We all moved inside for cake, ice cream, a little more playing, and opening presents.  M and L had a blast!  Isn't their buddy Zoey's face priceless in the last picture?  She must have been more excited than Lena about the gift.

We made our annual trip up to Northern Michigan a couple weeks ago.  For the most part, the weather was beautiful (we had two cloudy days).  The girls are the perfect age/size to have fun being in the water, play more independently outside, relax and enjoy ice cream, roast s'mores, and many other activities this year.  We had plenty of time out on the boat and in the water.  Chris and I even went zip lining one evening by ourselves.  It was, as always, such a nice, relaxing trip. We celebrated Maddie and Lena's birthday a little early with Auntie the night before we left with a "party pie"- named by Lena.
